RORSCHACH'S JOURNAL. MARCH 5TH, 2009.:
Saw film tonight. Called "Watchmen". Didn't like it. Difficult to watch with face on, theatre smelt like urine and fornication. Too much hippy music. Intro too long. Time wasted on gratuitous life/death struggle and indulgent depictions of fornication. Image of Comedian falling out of window would have sufficed, as would suggestion of sexual relationship.
Conversely, rushed out door what should have been peeled back carefully, like an onion. Gibbons would be proud. Alan Moore would not. Sometimes ham-fisted when sleight of hand required. Something suspicious about Dr Manhattan's voice, but my part was dead-on. Journal entries especially good. Raised a chuckle or three. Maybe I should be Comedian. Heh.
Dreiberg [aka Nite Owl II aka Patrick Wilson] and Laurie Jupiter [aka Silk Spectre II aka Malin Akerman] not bad. Veidt [aka Ozymandias aka Matthew Goode] pretty weak considering. Support cast of ex-masks surprisingly strong, especially Moloch and Sally Jupiter.
The scenes are extended violence and the violence is full of blood. Nice effects, I watch the flames dance. Distracting at times, though.
Cold War setting, World War III looming, without tangible sense of dread. Talk of saving the world seems sudden. Save world from what? Lots of questions. No answers. Only one way to find out: keep breaking fingers until answers come.
Ran out of fingers. Nobody knew. Only those that read journal.
